Masdar / Infinity Power Battery Project in Senegal
- A UAE company known as Masdar, which is in partnership with Infinity Power, is doing a project in Senegal. They both signed a 20-year agreement with Senelec, which is the national electricity company in Senegal, to build a battery energy storage system (BESS).
- The system will have 40 MW capacity with 160 MWh energy storage inside. Which means it can store a lot of energy to help when wind or solar energy is low.
- The BESS is going to be built at Tobene substation in Thies, Senegal. It is part of the larger wind farm called Parc Eolien Taiba N’Diaye (PETN) which is known to produce about 158.7 MW of wind power.
