• Early heat waves have resulted in shorter use of air conditioning, where temperatures typically reached maximums in February/March, this trend is likely to change because people will begin using electricity during those months for those purposes as opposed to waiting until May. 
• Industrial/commercial demand: Increase in air conditioning and cooling use in offices, malls, and data-based industries is contributing to increased power demand. 

Increased demand for agricultural power will also add to the burden of the total demand on the grid.

Changing Patterns and Future Outlook

Electricity consumption in Hyderabad is changing. In the past, peak loads were short-lived, and everyone knew when to expect them, but now there is:

• Longer event durations
• Greater maximum peak loads
• Earlier in the season than before

To keep pace with this change, many utilities are upgrading their existing infrastructure by adding new transformers, improving existing monitoring systems, and preparing for the projected increase in peak summer electrical load to exceed 5,000 MW in the city of Hyderabad alone.
