Raipur–Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor to Transform Travel with Eco-Friendly 464 km Highway

Raipur Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor will transform the road connectivity in central and eastern India through a 464km, six lane, access controlled highway. The Raipur Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor is an environmentally friendly infrastructure project that will cut the time of travel, which was almost 12 hours to 6-7 hours. Besides enhancing logistics and trade, this ambitious corridor gives more emphasis on the conservation of the environment by use of innovative engineering. The Raipurvisakhapatnam Economic Corridor, with a combination of high-speed mobility and wildlife protection, is one of the historic projects that may help in the sustainable growth, development of the region, and accelerated access to Visakhapatnam port.

Eco-Friendly Design and Economic Impact

The key characteristic of the Raipur Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor is the 2.79 km twin-tube tunnel across the Udanti Sitanadi Tiger Reserve which ensures free flow of wildlife. The walkway has animal underpasses and elephant overbridges, canopies of the monkeys and high-tech surveillance systems. The Raipur Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor will reduce the emission levels, fuel use and enhance the movement of freight across the state with a Rs 16,491 crore investment. When in place, the RaipurVisakhapatnam Economic Corridor will enhance the pace of economic activities in both Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh and also serve as a model of development of eco-sensitive highway infrastructure.
