US President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony shifted indoors?

US President-elect Donald Trump is returning to his office on January 20. His inauguration ceremony is being shifted indoors, he announced on Friday, due to dangerously cold temperatures projected in the capital on that day.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted that he has ordered the ceremony and the other speeches to be carried out in the US Capitol Rotunda. Former President Ronald Reagan’s inauguration in 1985 had also been done indoors due to cold temperatures.

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies is going to honour the request of Trump to shift the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies inside. The committee makes contingency plans to host the inauguration in multiple locations in case of obstacles.

It had been expected that Trump’s inauguration on Monday is going to be attended by hundreds of thousands of ticketed guests. The Rotunda in the US Capitol can hold approximately 700 people and is only set to be open to members of Congress, their spouses and others.
