UAE President reaffirms commitment to sustainability and climate action
Celebrating ‘National Environment Day’ on February 4, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed highlighted the country’s commitment to supporting international climate action efforts and promoting collective responsibility.
He noted the UAE’s remarkable history of sustainable progress and reaffirmed the goal to preserve natural resources for future generations. The UAE is gradually becoming a global leader in sustainability initiatives and climate action.
UAE supporting residents to adopt nature-friendly lifestyle
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, also took to X to share a message on the annual occasion. He called on people to play their part in preserving a nature-friendly lifestyle.
The UAE government is putting substantial efforts into ensuring that residents get to actively participate in projects that promote sustainability. One example is the Zayed Sustainability Prize launched in 2008 to recognise notable humanitarian projects.
The UAE has strengthened its global leadership in solar energy as the Gulf state deepens its focus on climate neutrality and sustainability goals. Today, the UAE is hosting three of the largest solar plants on the planet, gaining a big boost in its clean energy production.

The UAE is seeking to balance traditional and clean energy sources in the most feasible and sustainable manner. The country is planning to triple its clean energy contribution in the near future. The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 is a notable plan to pay attention to.
The Barakah nuclear reactors continue to play a substantial role in eco-friendly electricity production. Since their operation, the four stations have helped reduce carbon emissions by more than 43,000 kilotonnes.
