UAE Blue Visa expands existing residency programmes

The UAE has introduced the first phase of its Blue Visa programme, a residency visa lasting ten years for people making significant contributions to keeping the planet healthy. This visa is aimed at building a sustainable future for all.

In its initial phase, 20 sustainability leaders are set to be granted the Blue Visa. It is intended for members of international organisations, corporate leaders, researchers and others. Eligible applicants can apply directly through ICP or be nominated by UAE authorities.

The UAE Blue Visa expands the country’s existing residency programmes, such as the Golden Visa and Green Visa. It is part of the UAE’s broader sustainability campaigns. The Gulf state is prominent globally for its focus on climate action.

In 2019, the UAE introduced its Golden Visa programme. It lasts for ten years and targets investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, outstanding students and graduates, and humanitarian pioneers. The Green Visa came three years later.
