Tornado alerts issued in Oklahoma counties: Let’s understand

People in Oklahoma have been asked to remain cautious as tornado alerts are issued for multiple counties, such as Blaine and Custer. People can expect strong storms. The tornadoes are expected to be short-lived, but conditions remain dangerous.
People in Oklahoma can expect gusts of 60 to 80 miles per hour and hail measuring up to a golf ball. Forecasters have emphasised that the serious threat could last into Tuesday morning. These tornadoes are different from the usual ones.
The latest ones are called QCLS tornadoes. They form in strong lines of thunderstorms rather than in the rotating updrafts of a supercell thunderstorm – more commonly seen in the case of large tornadoes, reported India Today.
QCLS tornadoes are still capable of inflicted sizeable damage and pose a risk to people in the affected counties. Residents of Oklahoma are urged to remain vigilant and monitor tornado alerts as closely as possible.
