These are the 10 countries most affected by natural disasters

Climate change is triggering natural disasters of unprecedented intensities and pushing global temperatures into uncharted territories. The Climate Risk Index 2025 by a Bonn-based NGO shines light on these extreme disasters and their consequences.

The top 10 countries most affected by natural disasters include,

1. Dominica

2. China

3. Honduras

4. Myanmar

5. Italy

6. India

7. Greece

8. Spain

9. Vanuatu

10. Philippines

In the past 30-year period, nearly 800,000 people died across the globe due to more than 9,400 natural disasters. These incidents also caused $4.2 trillion in damage. The report seeks to highlight the perils of insufficient mitigation and adaptation measures.

Three of the top 10 most affected countries in the aforementioned list are part of Europe – Italy, Greece and Spain. This finding highlights that high-income countries are not immune to the brutal consequences of climate change.
