Sussex planning UK’s first climate justice undergraduate degree

The Uni of Sussex is bringing a huge change as it plans to introduce the UK’s first undergraduate degree focused on climate justice. This course is expected to offer students a blend of expertise in climate politics and human rights.

Starting in 2026, this undergraduate degree shall come alongside practical green skills needed to ensure changes for a healthier planet. The Uni is already focusing on a more hands-on approach to climate study.

This change comes after a Future Forum poll found that 72% of 14-18-year-olds seek a better and more rigorous climate change education. The demand for more humanities and social sciences-based education is on the rise.

Climate change is becoming a bigger crisis each day. This largely anthropogenic emergency is pushing global temperatures into uncharted territories and triggering natural disasters of higher intensities. People are naturally interested in learning about it in more depth.
