Positive Trends Suggest a Turning Point in the Fight Against Climate Change

Earth has just come out of its hottest year on record. This intense heat has caused more Hurricanes, Wildfires, Heat waves, and Droughts. The oceans are also Unusually warm, causing the fourth global coral bleaching event in history. The Atmosphere is packed with heat-trapping gasses. The weather changing causes  the atmosphere to heat up. The reaching levels increase too much and have not seen this kind of heat in millions of years. On the other hand we’re using more fossil fuels than before. which lead to a record level of greenhouse gas emissions.

But there are signs of hope that we might be close to changing course on Climate Change. Last year China installed more solar panels. Which is the world’s biggest polluter. Then the United States also installed solar panels which is the most in its entire history. Electric vehicle sales also hit a Record high Worldwide.  Energy efficiency is also improving. Many Countries are Growing their Economies while cutting their Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Governments are also doing different things to make stronger steps to limit their Climate impact. Mostly they are focusing on reducing Methane Emissions, a potent Greenhouse Gas.

If these strong steps continue, we could see changes in the battle against Climate Change.  Climate Analytics, a think tank, suggests that Emissions could start to Decrease According to the report, there’s a 70% chance that emissions will start to fall in 2024 if clean technology continues to grow and we make progress in cutting non-CO2 emissions. If this happens, 2023 might mark the peak of global emissions.

Neil Grant who is a climate and energy Analyst and co-author of the report said he was surprised by these things. He said It’s not often that we hear Good news about Climate Change. The shift toward cleaner energy sources and lower emissions is becoming so strong that even politics might not be able to stop it entirely. This means that some of the worst-case scenarios predicted in the past may now be much less likely.
