MBZ-SAT launch: UAE Space Agency commits to sustainability efforts
The launch of MBZ-SAT, the most advanced satellite in the Gulf region, is set for January 14 aboard a Falcon 9 rocket at 10:49 pm (UAE time). Named in honour of President Sheikh Mohamed, this satellite has unmatched imaging capabilities.
Originally scheduled for a launch last year, MBZ-SAT faced delays due to numerous technical issues. Currently, the UAE is using SpaceX’s rideshare programme to send the entity into space.
The MBZ-SAT features a fully automated image scheduling and processing system, letting it generate 10 times more images than the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) currently produces. This is incredible.
The UAE Space Agency is committed to sustainability efforts. From May 10-11, 2023, it participated in the first-of-its-kind UAE Climate Tech. The UAE recognises the importance of technology and space applications in mitigating the impact of climate change.
