Kuwait City Air Turns “Very Unhealthy” as AQI Crosses 200

Kuwait City experienced a sharp air quality drop today, with pollution levels rising into the very unhealthy range and visibility and health concerns growing.

Kuwait City recorded very unhealthy air quality today, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) moving above 200, putting the entire population at risk, not only sensitive groups. The spike is being linked to a familiar mix in the Gulf: dust in the air plus urban and industrial emissions.

What the Spike Means on the Ground

Air-monitoring platforms flagged the jump as a PM2.5-driven episode, and public health guidance in this range usually points to cutting outdoor exertion, especially for children, older adults, and anyone with asthma or heart issues.
And yes, it becomes a trend fast. IQAir has previously posted about Kuwait City topping global pollution rankings during similar “very unhealthy” spells, and that warning is doing the rounds again. Here’s the official post.

Quick checks people are doing today

  • Mask outdoors, shorter walks, closed windows
  • Air purifier indoors, if available
  • Postpone workouts till the index drops
