Another late-season Caribbean Tropical Storm has formed so the hurricane season is far from over. Tropical Storm Sara, the 18th named storm of the season, is most likely a tropical depression that is forming from a cyclone in the western Caribbean.

Latest Updates:

As of early Wednesday showers and thunderstorms are still occurring over the central Caribbean Sea according to the National Hurricane Center. By the end of the week, there is a 90% likelihood of a tropical development up from 80% in the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center. According to The Weather Channel, the storm’s status will be known in the next two to three days.

“There are only a couple of places where it could go once this develops. One is through Cuba northeastward missing the United States. The other is possibly in South Florida. So there is that possibility in the middle to late part of next week,” said meteorologist Dave Osterberg, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay.

Florida is closely following the storm’s progress, but Fox 35 in Orlando warns that, “it is too early to know or predict what may form, how strong it may become, or where it may go. If something does form any potential consequences will be approximately 9-10 days away.”

The regions of Central America  like Miami, Havana, Cancun, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Puerto Lempira are where tropical storm and hurricane alerts have been issued. A warning indicates that conditions are anticipated within 36 hours whereas a watch indicates that conditions could occur within 48 hours.
