Launched in February 2020, the Bezos Earth Fund aims to donate $10 billion of billionaire Jeff Bezos’s $200 billion personal fortune to address some of the most serious crises engulfing the planet, such as the notorious climate change.
So far, the Fund has already issued more than $2 billion in grants, funding a range of projects such as clean energy and artificial intelligence solutions. But things seem to be running in a different direction because of a recent decision.
The Bezos Earth Fund has decided to end its financial support for the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), an international body responsible for assessing if companies are decarbonising and contributing to the goals of the 2015 Paris agreement.
