Description:
In order to improve the environmental sustainability of minerals and metals, there will be two-day intergovernmental regional consultations between April and September 2023. These consultations will be based in part on the results of the implementation of the UNEA-4/19 resolution on mineral resource governance.
Following the regional consultations, a two-day global consultation will be held in person in Geneva on September 7th and 8th of 2023. This global consultation will highlight the key findings of the regional consultations and offer a chance to collect additional input that could help shape a co-chairs’ summary of results. Prior to and following the consultations, participants will also be able to submit written comments.
In due course, after consulting with the co-chairs, the specific schedule for the two-day regional intergovernmental consultations and global intergovernmental meeting will be decided. At least one month before the consultations, invitations will be distributed.
Prior to the intergovernmental meetings on improving the environmental sustainability of minerals and metals management (OP3), Member States and other stakeholders are invited to submit ideas and proposals.
