Chris Packham pushes for change in climate protests
Famous broadcaster Chris Packham have stated that climate activists need to stop blocking roads and start holding fossil fuels executives personally to account after he was appointed to the board of directors of one of the biggest activist funds of the present world.
The naturalist and broadcaster is the first non US based director of the State Emergency Fund that has given almost $15 million to climate activists taking part in non violent state disobedience campaigns around the globe since 2019.
Announcing his appointment, Chris said, “We have to identify those individuals because there are so few of them that are leading us to hell in a handcart. We pick on our politicians. We are quite clear there, if they have policies that are not good, then they are fair targets. CEOs of the companies are essentially faceless. It’s time that we call them out into the forefront.”
Packham has been increasingly supportive of activist groups. His appointment and comments saw a peak when Just Stop Oil and its counterparts across Europe and elsewhere all funded by CEF faced a crackdown on the disruptive protests that erupted across the continent.
The Climate Emergency Fund (CEF) has its base in Los Angeles, and was founded in 2019 by philanthropists on the basis of financing the climate protest movements by groups then active at the time such as the Extinction Rebellion. The notable funders in the organisation include, Aileen Getty, Abigail Disney and Barbra Streisand along with Adam Mckay.
