California fires: Cases of looting trigger multiple arrests

Raging California fires have destroyed at least 10,000 homes, businesses and other structures. 10 people have died because of the flames and more than 180,000 residents have been forced to leave their places for safety.

Firefighters are stretched thin as they try to bring multiple fires under control. Nearly 20 people have been arrested on suspicion of looting during the blazes raging across the state, according to officials. These perpetrators had been preying on residents during this time of crisis.

The Sheriff’s Department continues to patrol for looting and other criminal issues. US President Joe Biden has pledged federal support to help fight the fires, describing the current situation as the most devastating fire in California’s history.
