Adani Energy Solutions Wins $325 Million Power Transmission Deal in India
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (ASEL), the power transmission division of Adani Group has achieved a INR 28 billion ($325 million) project in Gujarat, India. The project is designed to build a transmission system for a green hydrogen and ammonia production facility in Mundra, Gujarat and is expected to be completed within three years.
As per an exchange filing, this is AESL’s sixth order win for the fiscal year, bringing its total order book to INR 575.61 billion. The Transmission System for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Manufacturing Potential in Mundra will involve reinforcement of the Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation by establishing two 765/400kV transformers. In addition, a 75 km long 765kV double circuit transmission line will be put up for connectivity between Navinal and the substation at Bhuj to improve power transmission capacity in Gujarat.
This project is important in India’s move towards renewable energy with the target of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030. In order to achieve this, the government will need to invest 125 GW of renewable energy, as part of a broader target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity. However power transmission infrastructure continues to lag often holding up renewable energy projects.
With this significant contract win, Adani Energy Solutions solidifies its position in India’s power sector and supports the country’s gradual pursuit of clean energy and sustainable industrial development.
